Cleaning your Spa Covers
Spa covers contribute mainly in protecting your spa during off seasons from debris or foreign material that could damage your spa. But not only tubs are to be protected nowadays. Even spa covers should also be protected too. One of the best ways to keep your spa covers protected is by keeping it clean and away from dirt. With less effort, you can clean your spa cover and keep it functioning for years. Here are some tips on how to clean your spa cover:
- First, remove the spa cover and rinse it with cool water. A garden hose or a few buckets of cold water should be enough to thoroughly rinse the spa cover.
- Next, apply a gentle, non-foaming cleaner to the spa cover. Don’t use abrasives, bleach or dish detergent which can actually do more harm than good. If in question about the cleaner, look for a cleaner specifically meant to clean vinyl. Use a non-abrasive sponge to help work out much of the dirt that is on the spa cover.
- Rinse the spa cover in cool water again. After rinsing, allow the cover to dry.
- Check the inside of the spa cover for mildew. If there is no mildew, do not worry about the inside of the cover. If there are signs of mildew, unzip the spa cover and remove the foam inside. Clean the inside of the cover the same way you cleaned the outside of the cover. Ensure that the inside of the jacket is completely dry before re-inserting the foam.
- Repeating these processes on a monthly basis will ensure a long lasting spa cover.
